Gyeongbokgung at Night: Fall 2026 Tickets and Foreign Visitor Entry

Season update — checked October 15, 2026: Regular Gyeongbokgung night viewing ended on October 2 under the official palace notice. Do not go to the counter expecting its 300 foreigner tickets or rent hanbok expecting that ended-season exemption to provide access now. The separate Starlight Tour lists foreigner sessions on October 21–24, subject to a confirmed reservation.

For a trip after October 2, choose between a confirmed Starlight Tour, a daytime Gyeongbokgung visit, or another palace with ordinary evening hours. The seasonal walk, 야간관람, and the meal-and-performance Starlight Tour, 별빛야행, have different tickets and calendars.

An evening alternative without a special-program booking

Ordinary hours rechecked October 15: The palace operator’s ordinary hours list Deoksugung and Changgyeonggung until 21:00, last admission 20:00, with regular Monday closure and holiday exceptions. This is ordinary palace access; exhibition buildings and reserved programs have their own hours. Check the selected palace’s current notices before leaving.

For an illustrative evening, allow dinner first, 18:30–19:45 for one palace visit, then the journey back to your hotel. The time block is a suggested allowance, not a tested route. Save the chosen palace entrance and the final useful metro connection in your map. A 21:00 closure is not a 21:00 arrival deadline. If an outdoor evening no longer suits the weather, choose an indoor alternative by area.

If you meant the Starlight Tour

The Korea Heritage Agency’s 2026 announcement describes a roughly 110-minute experience with a royal-style meal, performances and interpretation. It lists KRW 60,000 for the standard program, running September 2–October 24, Wednesday–Sunday, with September 30–October 4 excluded.

The Starlight Tour also has its own age restrictions: children born in 2020 or later cannot participate, and those born in 2008–2019 require an accompanying guardian, under the 2026 program rules. The ordinary night-viewing child exemption does not apply to this reserved program.

October 21–24 are designated foreigner sessions booked through Creatrip. The initial general-ticket lottery and August sales opening are past events, not evidence of seats available today. Follow the detailed official program page for that booking route and the session’s final terms. This guide does not confirm remaining seats or a foreigner-session checkout price.

Check the booking deadline before choosing an evening

Foreigner-product check — October 20, 2026: The Creatrip listing displayed “SOLD OUT” and a message that reservations were temporarily unavailable. That is an observation, not a promise of reopening or a session-by-session inventory check. Without a confirmed ticket, choose the ordinary evening alternative above; this tour has no on-site ticket sales.

The listing closes sales at 23:59 KST two days before the event. Applying that rule gives these deadlines; a deadline does not mean tickets remain available.

Before paying, check both travelers’ eligibility and the selected session. The limit is two tickets per person, with names matching the identification; bring physical passports for both the booker and guest. Ordinary Korean companions cannot join. Overseas Korean eligibility needs particular care: the product lists passport plus overseas residency/citizenship proof and leaves the final decision to on-site staff. Resolve that case with the seller before buying.

For cancellations, the product lists a full refund at least three days before, and none two days before or later. Its latest booking day is therefore already inside the stated no-refund period. Do not borrow Ticketlink’s cancellation clock for this product; confirm the exact cutoff in your reservation. Request a vegetarian meal or disclose dietary needs during booking. Save the confirmed reservation offline.

The English listing’s age wording is inconsistent: it says “born before 2019” but also includes 2019 in its guardian-required group. The official birth-year rule above is clearer; confirm a 2019-born child’s eligibility with the seller before paying.

Reach the Starlight desk, not just the palace entrance

The official program and foreigner listing place check-in in front of Gyejodang, toward the palace parking lot. For the 18:20–20:10 session, check-in opens 18:00; for 19:30–21:20, it opens 19:10. Arrive at least ten minutes before the start. Late arrival may mean no entry; follow any updated instructions in your confirmation.

The listed approaches are Gyeongbokgung Station, Line 3, Exit 4: about 15 minutes, Anguk, Line 3, Exit 1: about 15 minutes, or Gwanghwamun, Line 5, Exit 2: about 17 minutes. These are operator walking estimates. For an illustrative 18:20 booking, aim for the desk at 18:00 and leave Exit 4 around 17:35, allowing 15 minutes walking plus ten minutes to find the desk. Add your train journey before that time; this is planning arithmetic, not a tested walk.

Already visiting in daylight? The official program instructions require separate daytime admission, leaving when daytime visiting ends, then returning for tour check-in. Do not plan to wait inside between visits.

A regular night-viewing ticket or hanbok exemption does not reserve this meal-and-tour experience. For an independent night visit after October 2, use a newly announced regular-night notice; the ended-season ticket rules do not establish admission for a later date.

Arrive for the part of the palace that is open

For a general daytime palace visit, save Gwanghwamun / 광화문 as your entrance landmark. The palace directions list Gyeongbokgung Station, Line 3, Exit 5, and Gwanghwamun Station, Line 5, Exit 2 as approaches. Include the walk from the station in your arrival plan. Starlight ticket holders should use the separate desk directions above.

The ended night-viewing season included Geunjeongjeon, Gyeonghoeru and royal residential halls. That map does not define a Starlight Tour route. For any booked program, save its meeting point separately from the general palace entrance and follow current barriers and staff directions.

The ended regular-night notice allowed operation in rain. Do not carry that weather or refund rule over to the Starlight Tour; read the terms for the actual product you buy.

Recognize an outdated night-viewing offer

The regular night-viewing season ran September 2–October 2, 2026, according to the August 18 palace notice. Listings mentioning KRW 3,000 entry, 300 foreigner walk-up tickets or a night-entry hanbok exemption refer to that ended season. They do not establish access now.

Before buying transport, clothing rental or an evening package, match three things: the program name, its operating dates and the admission confirmation you will receive. A rental confirmation is not a palace ticket. An old ticket page still being visible is not evidence that the season continues. For a future regular-night season, check a newly dated palace notice for its own allocation, identification, booking and cancellation rules.
