Choose the route to your hotel’s actual address, not simply “Busan city center.” Compare the next departure, the transfers you will manage with your bags and the walk after the final stop. A bus that passes near your hotel can be useful even when rail is available; a long wait for that bus can change the decision.
Save your hotel’s Korean address and a map pin before landing. Check which terminal you are leaving, then choose a complete route. Our first Busan visit guide covers sightseeing once you have reached your base.
Make the choice at arrivals
| Option | Useful when | Check before committing |
|---|---|---|
| Light rail plus metro | You can manage station transfers and the final walk | Interchange, direction, full fare and last usable connection |
| Airport bus | A listed stop is close to your accommodation | Next departure, exact stop, payment and luggage arrangements |
| Taxi | Bags, a group, reduced mobility or late arrival make transfers awkward | Vehicle size, destination, meter and possible extra charges |
Count a transfer as more than a line change on a map. You may need to walk between platforms, find a lift or handle a suitcase while following signs. If these steps are difficult for your party, compare the full taxi cost with the inconvenience you would avoid. Ask staff about accessible boarding rather than assuming a route is step-free.
Light rail is the first leg
The airport’s rail page identifies Sasang for Metro Line 2 and Daejeo for Metro Line 3. Choose the interchange that fits your destination; neither is a universal answer for every hotel. At the light-rail platform, check the direction on the current display before boarding, then follow the metro interchange signs at the selected station.
Plan from the airport station all the way to your accommodation’s nearest practical exit. Check the combined fare for that journey; an advertised light-rail-only fare is not necessarily the total after a metro connection. Use the current ticket machine, route planner or station staff rather than adding prices from different years. Our transport-card guide covers card preparation; it does not establish the price of this particular journey.
For an evening arrival, check the last connection on every required leg. A light-rail train still operating does not guarantee that the onward metro connection remains available. Recalculate after collecting your bags, not from the aircraft’s scheduled landing time.
Compare the listed airport buses
The airport bus page lists these services from Platform 3 on Floor 1 at both terminals:
| Route | Listed fare | Listed airport first–last window |
|---|---|---|
| Seomyeon / Bujeon | ₩6,000, credit card only | 07:20–21:30 |
| Haeundae / Gijang | ₩9,500, credit card only | 07:10–21:40 |
The Seomyeon route lists the Lotte Hotel/Department Store stop, Bujeon Market and Bujeon Station. The coastal route lists stops including BEXCO, Dongbaekseom entrance and Haeundae Beach, but not every departure continues to Gijang. Confirm the destination displayed on the bus and the stop nearest your hotel.
The airport warns that schedules and fares may change. Its detailed tables use different terminal reference points, so confirm the next departure for the terminal where you are standing. Do not treat a first–last window as a frequent, turn-up-and-go service. The page names operator Bus Inc., 051-583-7441, for checking arrangements.
Before waiting, compare the next bus with a rail route or taxi. Check where your bag will go, whether assistance is available and whether your payment card is accepted. “Credit card only” is the posted condition, not a guarantee that every overseas card will work. We have not tested card acceptance on these buses.
When a taxi is the more workable choice
Use the airport’s designated taxi area and show the full address. The airport taxi table lists a standard starting fare of ₩4,800 for 2 km and a deluxe/jumbo starting fare of ₩7,500 for 3 km. These are starting fares, not fixed airport-to-hotel prices. Distance, time, vehicle type and applicable extras change the total.
Confirm the vehicle category before boarding, especially if you need a larger car. Ask how the trip will be charged and check the payment method. A map estimate is useful for comparison but should not be treated as a guaranteed fare or arrival time. Do not assume a taxi removes rush-hour or road-delay risk.
If the next bus is inconvenient and the final rail connection is uncertain, choose the backup while you still have time to make it. Save the hotel’s contact information and tell it about a late check-in when necessary; do not rely on a transport timetable to establish the reception’s hours.
Plan the airport return separately
The city-bound stop is not automatically the airport-bound stop. Before departure day, save the correct return boarding point and confirm that the service reaches your domestic or international terminal. Check the return timetable rather than reversing an arrival timetable.
Work backward from your airline’s check-in and bag-drop deadlines. Include waiting, transfers, road delays and the terminal walk. If the earliest public-transport option leaves too little margin, arrange a suitable taxi or reconsider where you spend the previous night. Avoid booking a connection that works only if every estimate is exact.
