Korea Beauty Shopping: Stores, Labels and Packing for Your Flight

Choose the exact store, match the product label, and decide how the purchase will travel home before paying. A useful shopping list includes the product name, shade, package size, and a photograph of the item requested. This makes shopping for someone else easier than relying on a brand name alone.

Distinguish the two Myeongdong stores

Olive Young Myeongdong Global has an official English store guide listing 53 Myeongdong-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul. Its floor map puts skincare and masks downstairs, with makeup, tools, hair, and body products upstairs. The guide also lists foreign-language assistance. It says this particular branch has no restroom and asks visitors to keep personal belongings with them, so plan around those limitations if carrying luggage.

Olive Young Central Myeongdong Town is a separate store announced on March 26, 2026. CJ’s official announcement describes a shopping-focused location with an expanded mask section. Staff who can assist in English, Chinese, or Japanese wear language-identifying flag badges.

Save the full branch name in your map app: 올리브영 명동 타운 and 올리브영 센트럴 명동 타운 are useful distinguishing search terms. Match the destination against its official listing before starting directions. Separate a Global Mall account from Korean membership

The Myeongdong Global FAQ distinguishes Korean membership from Global Mall membership. It describes Korean membership registration for residents with a phone number in their own name, and ties membership-special discounts to a Korean online-mall account. Global Mall has its own membership offering.

Treat a Global Mall coupon as an online offer until the store confirms otherwise. Before comparing prices, ask which displayed price you can actually pay and whether it requires membership, a particular payment method, or a specified product combination.

Check the package, then the checkout total

Use this short comparison sheet before adding a gift to your basket:

For a bundle, compare the contents you want with the total payable. An extra container has little practical value if the recipient did not request it or you cannot pack it within your baggage allowance.

Keep the retailer’s receipt. For example, COSRX’s own FAQ directs purchases made through another retailer back to that retailer for returns. A brand’s online return policy should not be assumed to cover your Korean shop purchase. Resolve a wrong shade or missing item while you can still contact the seller conveniently.

Read Korean cosmetic labels without guessing

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety’s packaging guidance identifies product name, batch number, use-by or after-opening period, ingredients, quantity, and precautions among cosmetic label information. These terms help you find the relevant part of a package:

If a date is unclear, show the printed label to staff rather than interpreting every number as an expiry date. Retain the box or photograph its information before discarding packaging. Follow the individual product’s instructions; an opening period advertised for one product is not a rule for every item in your bag.

Pack liquids for international departure

Incheon Airport’s security rules, checked September 7, 2026, cover liquid, spray, and gel cosmetics and toiletries. For cabin baggage, containers must be 100ml or smaller, inside one transparent, resealable bag of no more than 1L per person, closed shut.

The limit concerns the container, so a partly used larger bottle does not meet the small-container rule. A sealed retail box does not change that requirement. Check container sizes while shopping if you are travelling with cabin baggage only.

Incheon separately permits qualifying duty-free liquids in a designated Duty Free Liquid Item Bag, which must stay sealed until boarding the final-destination flight. An ordinary shop bag or unopened skincare box is not that designated bag. Confirm the rules for your transfer airport and airline as well.

Coordinate packing with the tax-refund route

Refund paperwork and security screening answer different questions. Korea Customs Service lists unopened, unused goods among the requirements for export confirmation. Opening a refund purchase to decant it into travel bottles conflicts with that requirement.
